One PBJ of this squadron took off at 1300 to conduct reconnaissance mission over Ponape.  Weather encountered between take off and target was good.  Cloud cover was area 3/10.  Base of clouds 3000' built up cumulus to 6500'.  At 1520 large bubbles and turbulence were observed in the center of Matalanim outer harbor.  Future observation gave negative results.  At 1645 a bombing run was made on the docks of Ponape Town at an altitude of 8500', true heading 60° at 155 knots.  Four (4) 350# depth charges set for instantaneous nose fuse were released one and one-half SW of target.  The bombs were observed to have fallen in water north of Ponape Town, just outside of coral heads.  Visibility over the target was good.  No enemy anti-aircraft fire was observed.
